The Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx), UNAIDS, Cross Border Impact Ventures (CBIV) and Geneva Innovation Movement (GIM) to co-host a hybrid discussion on the importance of innovations and investments to build resilient health systems
The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the fragility of health systems around the world and highlighted the critical importance of building resilient systems and capacities. It has also reinforced the importance of connecting communities, the public and private sectors in building trust and delivering on scale. Scaling up investments and leveraging innovations that can rapidly increase access to healthcare form indispensable components of alleviating alarming consequences of the current and future pandemics.
The Special Session of the World Health Assembly, which is meeting in Geneva 29 November - 1 December 2021, will bring together countries to discuss a pandemic treaty, with hopes of agreeing on a new global architecture that can help prevent future outbreaks. On the margins of this special session, the Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx), UNAIDS, Cross Border Impact Ventures (CBIV) and Geneva Innovation Movement are co-hosting a hybrid discussion on the importance of investments to build resilient health systems and leveraging innovations that can help rapidly scale up access to healthcare. The event titled “New Horizons for Investing in Innovations for Global Health and Resilient Health Systems”, to beheld on 30 November 2021, will bring together key leaders from both public and private sectors around the connecting theme of developing new and innovative models for scaling access to healthcare and building resilient health systems. The session will give space to policy makers to dialogue with leading investors and innovators to explore how to best connect funding flows to the most critical innovations in healthcare to support their sustainable and effective scale-up.
This event will showcase outstanding innovations with the potential to transform healthcare in the Global South. It will explore the integral role innovations can play in future-proofing health systems through practical examples such as digital health solutions, diagnostics, last-mile service delivery among others. Discussions will also dive into innovative models of funding and ecosystem building and begin connecting the financing partnerships to the essential innovations.
In line with its role as a global health and innovation connector, the HIEx will also use the event to present a number of new initiatives, innovations and partnerships that will form key pieces of the future health innovation ecosystem, have a potential to work with countries to improve their health outcomes, and that strengthen the HIEx partnership network.
