Upcoming: 8th Edition of the Geneva Health Forum (GHF) 2020 - Improving Access To Health: Learning From The Field

The Geneva Health Forum’s 8thedition will take place from 16th– 18thNovember 2020 with the event thematics focusing on innovation driven methods and tools that can accelerate improved access to health.

Healthcare technologies and systems have been rapidly evolving over the past few decades with digital technology upgrading healthcare services exponentially, particularly in emerging nations. However, factors such as country of birth or income class continue to heavily impact an individual’s access to universal and healthcare. With the health needs of the global population growing rapidly in size, health systems are adapting at a much slower pace to meet these needs, a gap that has widened due to the socioeconomic stress placed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to improve the quality of global health systems and identify new innovation driven health solutions, the Geneva Health forum has realized the need for a Forum gathering of all the key actors of global health and humanitarian action.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic, and for the safety of all of the participants, the Geneva Health Forum will be taking place as entirely virtual event. Working with their network of key actors in Geneva and around the world, the Forum will shed light on the re-organisation of health systems, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic but also parallel to other current global health challenges, such as universal health coverage, e-health, neglected tropical diseases, SDGs, cancer & the impact of climate change. The 3-day Forum is expected to have 21 online streaming sessions, all broadcasted live and available for participants for 3 months after the event.

The 8thedition will be spearheaded by an Innovation Fair which will showcase dynamic, innovation-driven health solutions through respective virtual exhibition booths, allowing for interaction and knowledge sharing with key global health actors. The virtual event will also feature selected authors that will present their scientific posters, along with a dynamic networking tool that will allow participants to connect with other like-minded professionals and share their successes and challenges towards improving access to healthcare globally.

The Forum will also feature the following innovations that are part of the Health Innovation Exchange network:

Created in 2006 by the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, the Geneva Health Forum is a forum focusing on innovative practices in global health, bringing together Swiss and international participants from all sectors.
